Community Support Activities
SCC gives back to the community in various ways. Our largest effort is the organization of an annual holiday season toy drive benefiting Neva King Cooper Education Center, a local special education facility serving severely handicapped children. SCC has provided holiday gifts as well as cash donations to the Neva King Cooper Educational Center for the past 26 years. Please click here for two South Dade Newsleader articles concerning Neva King Cooper and the Sunshine Corvette Club.
SCC is joined in our efforts by our sponsor, Bomnin Corvette, Miami Dade Police and Fire Department personnel, as well as the Heat Dancers, and mascot "Burnie" which is always a favorite of the children.
Due to the Corona Virus, the Neva King Cooper 2020 graduation could not be held in the normal fashion. Teachers, friends, and SCC members drove to the homes of the five graduating students with signs of congratulations, gifts, and a $25 gift certificate to Mamma Mia Pizza provided to each student from SCC .

Bomnin Chevrolet conducted an Easter Celebration on April 18, 2019 at the Redlands Christian Migrants Association child development center located in Florida City. SCC members supported our sponsor by bringing our Corvettes, and assisting in the activities. Please click on the photo below to enlarge and show additional photos of the children's activities.
SCC members also support fund raising efforts of organizations such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by attending their functions, and showing our cars at the Special Olympics competitions, the Miami Dade Police Department Christmas Toy Giveaways, and Artwalk Homestead, presented by Homestead Councilwoman Jenifer Bailey.

SCC donates money yearly to "Driving for a Cause," the charitable arm of Homestead-Miami Speedway. SCC members also donate canned goods to Farm Share, (South Florida's local food bank), and gym shoes to Got Sneakers (a local sneaker recycling organization). The Speedway also supported Special Olympics during the day's event. SCC members are allowed to take 10 "hot laps" around the track as a thank you for our efforts. SCC continues to donate money to the Homestead-Miami speedway charity each year, and we are invited to take some laps on the track. Please see pictures and link to a video below, or on the Social Activities page.

Parades are another way for SCC members to have fun with their cars while also giving enjoyment to others. We participate in the Falls Shopping Center Holiday Parade, the City of South Miami Parade of Elves, the City of Miami Springs Independence Day parade, the Jr. Orange Bowl Parade, Veterans Day Parades, the Coral Gables Military Tribute event, and other functions as requested by local cities and community organizations.
