Sunshine Corvette Club
Community Support Activities
SCC gives back to the community in various ways. Our largest effort is the organization of an annual holiday season toy drive benefiting Neva King Cooper Education Center, a local special education facility serving severely handicapped children. SCC has provided holiday gifts as well as cash donations to the Neva King Cooper Educational Center for more than 30 years. Please click here for two South Dade Newsleader articles concerning Neva King Cooper and the Sunshine Corvette Club.
SCC is joined in our efforts by our sponsor, Bomnin Corvette, Miami Dade Police and Fire Department personnel, as well as the Heat Dancers, and mascot "Burnie" which is always a favorite of the children.
Please see below for additional community support activities that SCC has participated in recently.

12/16/21 Toy Distribution
Neva King Cooper Educational Center
Homestead, Florida
Due to the continuing Corona Virus situation, the Neva King Cooper 2021 toy distribution event was greatly minimized, but everyone was happy to participate!
During March of 2021, the Palace Gardens Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility held their St. Patrick's celebration, and SCC was requested to show some of our Corvettes during the party. The Corvettes made a few "parade laps" to ensure that all the facility residents and their families had a chance to see the various models and years of our cars.
Due to the Corona Virus, the Neva King Cooper 2020 graduation could not be held in the normal fashion. Teachers, friends, and SCC members drove to the homes of the five graduating students with signs of congratulations, gifts, and a $25 gift certificate to Mamma Mia Pizza provided to each student from SCC .

SCC donates money yearly to "Driving for a Cause," the charitable arm of Homestead-Miami Speedway. SCC members also donate canned goods to Farm Share, (South Florida's local food bank), and gym shoes to Got Sneakers (a local sneaker recycling organization). The Speedway also supported Special Olympics during the day's event. SCC members are allowed to take 10 "hot laps" around the track as a thank you for our efforts. SCC continues to donate money to the Homestead-Miami speedway charity each year, and we are invited to take some laps on the track. Please see pictures and link to a video below, or on the Social Activities page.
